The Uruguayan aviation authority DINACIA has come towards us! We can now apply for license validations in advance. The process is completely online. A first candidate has already successfully tried out the new method. As in other countries, the required documents are the following: license, medical, last 3 pages of the personal logbook, passport, a form with personal data, a photo, proof of residence in Uruguay (I can support you with this) and a letter of application in Spanish. As soon as all copies of the papers have been submitted by e-mail, you will receive a processing number, which you can use later to access your file at any time. After checking the authenticity of the documents, DINACIA invites you to take a test in aviation law. This is done online. In one and a half hours, 30 multiple choice questions have to be answered. To pass, you need 75% correct answers. The authority then draws up a legal decision to issue the desired validation, a so-called resolución. A total of four to six weeks should be allowed for the entire process. When collecting the validation on site, you present the originals of your license, medical and flight log and pay the fee. With the logbook, care is taken to ensure that you are within the 90-day rule. In addition, you should be able to speak at least a little colloquial Spanish with the officials, but I’m happy to help here too. The “convalidación uruguaya” is always valid for as long as the foreign medical presented. If you come back at a later stage, you can obtain a new validation on presentation of a new, currently valid medical. We thank DINACIA for the great accommodation for our flying trips!
